In this unit I learned how to teach vocabulary and grammar structures. What I will take away from this lesson the most are the game and activity ideas for each level of the lesson. For example, for the engage phase of a vocabulary lesson, it is appropriate to bring in pictures, use contrast, discussion, discovery and realia. Previously I had only thought to use pictures to engage students. But the higher the level of English your students have, the less and less likely it is that you may be able to use pictures because some vocabulary just cant be captured in one frame! This is the point where mime and action will be very useful in conveying meaning, as well as showing video clips or listening to lines of songs for further native examples.
