This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned about the four basic skills in language: listening and reading being receptive skills, and speaking and writing being the productive skills. While neither receptive or productive skills are more important than the other, I noticed that the unit had more of a heavy focus on receptive skill--listening and reading; it makes sense, too, considering that most times what we produce lingually, is based on what we receive. And it is important to perceive as accurately as possible as to mitigate misunderstandings.
In reflection of the Activate stages presented in the unit, I found the approach to making comparisons via \"Gap-fill\" and Q&A a simple way to get students thinking about the topic; it also, in a way, allows the teacher to create clever questions, and if also interested in the topic, allows him/her to be more engaged.
