The chapter briefly tells us why the evaluation is needed. It lists the ways of evaluation: tutorials, students' survey, and tests. The biggest part of the chapter is devoted to testing. The reader gets a copy of a placement test. Practice, diagnostic, and progress tests are also discussed. There is a number of standardized external tests, like TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Assessments, and others.
I was looking forward to reading this unit, but it was not what I expected. I was looking for the answer \"how to evaluate?\" Especially how to evaluate the progress and provide the feedback to students if the marking is mandatory? Many schools require assigning marks. I think it is fairly easy if the student is progressing well, but what to say if somebody is not, so that the evaluation is honest, but it won' t discourage him/her from learning?
