This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
For unit 14 we studied course books and lesson materials. We began by mentioning that opinions are split concerning their use (some teachers love them, others not so much). We followed this by discussing the difference between created materials and authentic materials, and this was followed by several examples of created materials (word searches, flash cards, etc). We then covered the advantages and disadvantages of using course books, along with their overall best uses and different options relating to the frequency of use. Finally, we focused on criteria to determine the overall value of a course book (price, methodology, design auxiliary materials, etc).
