When teaching English as a second language there are many different methods and techniques that teachers can use to help students learn. A few of these techniques include: grammar translations, task-based learning, the silent way, and suggestopaedia. However an effective method that was focused on in this unit was Engage, Study, Activate. This method ensures that every student speaks some English while learning new language concepts and encouraging high student talk time. In this lesson I have learned that it is important to use many different techniques throughout the class. Some techniques may vary due to previous knowledge of students. However it is extremely important that students and teachers only use English during a lesson.
