This unit explained the many theories and methods of teaching EFL. Although there are many theories, the best techniques are student centered, ensure that students are relaxed and comfortable, and provide as much exposure to the English language as possible. The method used in the teaching of the ESL course is Engage, Study and Activate. This ESA process is very straightforward and many examples of activities are provided. I plan to utilize this process in teaching my students and am happy to know that flexibility is inherent in the process. I can actually use small building blocks to teach a lesson. As long as I start with engagement and end with activation I will be following the process correctly.
