In terms of grammar and usage, I did not learn anything new I'm afraid. However, I did learn some concise new ways to explain the tenses to students and I get some practical hints on how to further students' practice of the tenses through activities.
I feel this section, like the one on the present tense, are good primers for 1) new teachers who are native speakers of English but do not know how to explain grammar and 2) instructors who are not native English speakers.
