This unit of past tenses was a bit challenging for me. After continious review I've learned the four past tenses; past simple, past continious, past perfect, and past perfect continious. With Past simple it's a must that you understand that many verbs are irregular and there are no tricks to knowing these other than to memorize them. With past perfect the key is knowing that was/were will be used just as had will be used for past perfect tense and had been for past perfect continious. I also realized that many of the ideas for the Activate stage of learning will be rather similar in the past tense lessons.
