Unit 12 educates me on how to teach productive skills (speaking and writing skills) to students whose native language is not English. Speaking skill involves accuracy (students speaking English with the correct grammar structures) and fluency (students speaking fluently for any given topic in English). Teachers can improve students' accuracy in speaking through practices during the Study phase while enhancing students' fluency through in-class activities during the Activate phase. When teaching writing skills to students, teachers must consider the five components of writing : handwriting/penmanship, spelling, layout, punctuation , and creativity. The unit also suggests several games as in-class activities to introduce new grammar concepts and vocabulary as well as to enhance students' receptive and productive skills.
