Conditionals are a very complicated and arguably advanced form of English to teach. What make Conditionals difficult is the shed amount of variety that can occur with words, whilst remaining within the context of a certain conditional. Also, it can be unclear to non-native speakers which Conditional is correct in a certain situation regarding fluency. these need to be taught separately, lest there be too much confusion in class. Reported speech is a bit more straight forwards. I noticed that a lot of 'typical' responses from native speakers are, actually, grammatically incorrect often. An interesting point to note, but over all timing and location are key to this particular form.
