I have learned a lot from this course. Prior to taking this course, I never realized how much work went into lesson planning. I have a much greater respect for teachers now after having had to do so many of them myself. Being an english teacher or a teacher in general is so much more than just teaching the subject to a class of students. It takes a lot of preparation, time and patience to be able to effectively communicate information to a group of students who initially may not be able to understand you . After taking this course I feel confident in saying that if I become a teacher I would like to work with elementary students. I know that I have the patience needed to work with younger children and think I would be able to teach them a lot through different rhyming games and singing exercises. The most difficult lesson from this course was the lesson on pronunciation and phonology, but it was also the most interesting for me. I think I would really like teaching pronunciation and phonics to beginner students through the use of different games. The activate stage ideas were also very helpful to me because I have no experience or background in how to teach. I will definitely think about utilizing some of them in the future if and/or when they are appropriate to use in the classroom.
