Throughout the course I have been introduced to both new and familiar concepts, ideas and methods. The course covered a lot of material from grammar to teaching techniques and classroom management. I have taught english for 3 years but I have often struggled with understanding and teaching many grammatical points. Completing the course has given me the opportunity to revise and exercise many grammatical points which I have sometimes misunderstood.
I found the lesson planning unit the most useful. I have always been familiar with lesson planning but never covered the subject in so much detail. Knowing the structure of simple lesson plans, boomerang lesson plans etc… and the different stages of a lesson will enable me to efficiently plan successful lessons in the future of my teaching career. The class management units were very useful to me because I regularly teach young learners and sometimes have an issue with discipline in the classroom. Using the techniques mentioned in the course has aided me to take back control of the classroom.
The course offered many resources for games and activities which I have yet to try but I’m looking forward to implementing into my classes. The combination of reviewing and learning the material in the course has certainly improved my teaching abilities.
