This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
What I have personally gained from this course is both more knowledge of the english language and more confidence in my ability to teach it. There are many things about the english Language that I did not know. For instance a few are, that the english language does not have three tenses, it has twelve! Another is what verbal phrases and conditionals are. Also I learned about passive voice. There are so many things that we use in our mother tongue (L1) and yet many times we do not necessarily know what they are all called, and most especially how to explain/teach it to others. I have gained more knowledge in these areas and I look forward to continuing to research and learn more on these subjects and many others. After completing this course I now have more confidence in my ability to teach english, however, I know that I still have many things to glean/learn. I also look forward to putting these things that I have learned into action. I plan to put these things into action by continuing to study further on these subjects and passing them on/teaching them to my future students in the classroom. I also plan to put what I have gained regarding less fear and more confidence into action during my future teaching in the classroom as well. Putting what I have learned into action will be the real test!
