This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
When I first started this course, I wasn't sure it would be of too much help, but I was wrong. There was a lot of material here that I was not aware of, and didn't have information about. The unit on phonetics was interesting, and I think it would help my students a lot, as well as me. Learning the tenses and how to use them was challenging as I never really teach all of them or think about the usages of all of them. Also learning the conditionals was enjoyable.
I think most of all taking this course will help me put better lesson plans into action. During my ESL career so far, when making lesson plans, I haven't really given my lesson planning the detail that I have gone into here during this course. When I make a lesson plan, I have the general flow and activities written down before class, but now as of taking this course, I see there is a lot more that can go into it. For example, I will use the patchwork lesson plan and see how that goes. Usually I plan a straight ESA or Boomerang. It was good to get more clarity on this.
Overall I'm glad I took this course. I definitely feel more competent as a teacher, and more well-rounded. There is more now that I can offer to my students.
