This course has been a wonderful review of english grammar. I have been reminded of lessons that I learned long ago and take for granted as a native english speaker. I have also learned new aspects of the english language. I am appreciative of the many tables and rules which help to guide myself and will help my students when critically thinking about the english language.
Putting together lesson plans has also been very valuable practical experience. I have been unable to tutor or teach an ESL student yet. However, I feel the practice of lesson planning has helped me to feel prepared when this time does come. My current profession is as a community educator while I have always made outlines, I have started to utilize detailed lesson plans for my presentations and feel this helped my presentations to grow.
This course has provided a great number of resources so that when I do begin teaching english, I will be able to refer to these materials, resources, references, and recommended books for support.
As the units have progressed, I feel I have a much better concept of what it means to be a TEFL teacher. The overall ideas that the language learning process should be supportive, engaging, and meet the needs of students is something I will always remember.
I am looking forward to utilizing my new skill and hopefully be travelling soon as a TEFL teacher!
