This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I would break down what I learned in to two separate categories. The first is what I learned about english itself. I learned a lot of terminology that I did not know and quantified what I do every day without thinking. Much of the class taught me how to be more systematic with how I speak and how to be grammatically correct. I learned pronunciation and how to select vocabulary, all things that focus on the nitty gritty of creating fluent english.
The second category of knowledge is how to teach. I learned a lot of activities, methods and little tricks to help students of all ages and skill levels learn how to learn. This will make me a much better teacher then someone who simply reads from the book, it will allow me to make language dynamic and interesting to the students.
I plan on putting this class in to effect by getting a job. I am interested in going overseas as soon as possible. I see this certification as more of a stepping stone to a new job field, rather than a simple check on a checklist. I feel much more confident and read y to teach.
