This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have gained a lot of knowledge on what it means to be a good teacher of english. I only hope that I can implement that knowledge. This course has gone over the methods and techniques needed to become a good teacher. Those methods of setting up the lessons and techniques in presenting them are very important, of course. But it would probably all be in vain if the teacher doesn’t connect with the students. ESA plans and course book lessons are necessary as are evaluations and testing, but if the course is not lively and interesting a lot of student learning will never happen or will happen over a longer period of time. The danger of grammar learning is that the student will learn about the language rather than learn the language itself. And, as the course explains, it is very important that the teacher get the experience of teaching all different levels of ESL students. And that might take a lot of time to develop. So I am just beginning and hoping to teach a class soon and hope that I will be able to put everything I’ve learned in this course into practice.
