This course has helped me clarify a great number of issues.
First it has enabled me to have a more structured knowledge of the english grammar, which in my mind used to be far more dispersed. I'm glad I have realised the importance of ESA lesson plans. Planning an effective lesson used to be something obscure to me. Creating materials for Study and Activate phases has been very rewarding since it has required me to remain constantly inventive. Working on the course materials has been the occasion for me to think about various classroom issues, such as how to provide explanations in a simplified way through gestures, body language and pictorial language. I now have a clearer understanding of the different levels of proficiency. I can also determine the areas of the language that should be taught for each level of proficiency, and the different evaluation tools available. I understand better the way modals influence the general meaning of a sentence, and the way a sentence can be interpreted depending on the intonation we use.
I am hoping to travel around China before the end of the year, and it would be a privilege for me to put into practice the skills acquired throughout the units, in a real classroom. Also, I have been to Brazil and Panama and have found out that teaching english in one of those two countries could be a very rewarding experience.
