I have gained a lot over the past 20 units. I was at first quite confident in my ability to use the english language to teach, but you don’t realize the many complexities of the language as a native speaker, until they are explained to you. The different grammatical units, particularly when the many tenses come into play, have made me aware of the difficulty that non english speakers have to face. I have gained confidence over the course. I have been able to see the practical side of learning each unit, even when it is not immediately obvious. Some aspects, where you have to think and use your imagination as to what students would actually respond to, get me excited for the prospect of putting these words into real life action. I plan to try to use this course, and what I have learnt within Australia if I can, until I am at a point where I can travel internationally with it. I don’t want to let what I have learnt go stale; I would like to put it into practice as soon as possible. This may mean taking on voluntary roles initially as I am not sure how high the demand for english teachers is within Australia. I would like to keep informed about the opportunities for a TEFL teacher and I look forward to using this course to get work.
