Several things come to mind when I think of the benefit of this course. The preparation of the many lesson plans and thinking through those systematically gives me confidence that I can plan and teach english to foreign students. I will be rusty in the beginning, but I have more than a general idea of where to begin and how to proceed. And because of the wide range of well discussed topics, I will continue to have a great resource to consult when needed. In fact, I would never have imagined that there existed such a range of topics, that at some point in a comprehensive language study, would have to be discussed, even if, in a cursory way. The heavy emphasis on grammar was helpful, and even though I would consider grammar to be a strong suit for me, actually teaching the grammar will be enhanced by what has been made available through this course. I had difficulty at times in the course with tenses; not that my sentence structure was awkward or incorrect, but identifying, putting a name to the tense sometimes eluded me. Current plans, though still in the making, include teaching english as a foreign language in an Arab culture. Initially I will team with another teacher in helping to develop a program from its infancy.
