At present there is a great worldwide desire to communicate in english and, as a result, there is a huge demand for trained and skilled teachers of english. The standard, international qualification required is a TEFL certificate . With this qualification you are able to put your english skills to good use and to find employment throughout the world.
TEFL certificate courses will provide me with all the necessary skills and training to be an effective teacher and to find a suitable teaching position. Throughout the learning process I learnt that every idea needs an effective execution. Therefore, proper learning auxiliaries in imparting lesson to the students.
While solving the exercises and solving the lesson plans I learned that it is very crucial to accommodate students with rich-environment with set limits and objectives. Students need limits. Limits provide security for students to develop their self-regulating skills. Yet, students need freedom within the limits. This freedom allows them to make mistakes, to problem solve, to develop new behaviors. With the help of techniques and styles provided; pathway, boomerang, straight arrow style helped me in improving my level of understanding and skills; moreover, it helped me to meet the evolving needs of students. Following and preparing the lesson plan before hand facilitate me in creating opportunities and activities for individual and group work, within structured routine yet, keeping the lesson flexible enough to adapt as per the students requirement and understanding. The lesson planning for the peculiar grammar concept is considered difficult but the phases made it interactive and interesting rather than being monotonous and boring to the students.
TEFL has shown me a new dimension of teaching style and making my lessons interactive enough to embed in every students mind may it be beginner or intermediate. Whilst preparing a lesson plan, I realized that students need more than just subject matter; cooperative games help students beyond their personal needs to those of the group. This often generalizes beyond game time to classroom time.
TEFL enabled me to do something radically different to achieve greater levels of success in a classroom. We need to breakout from our monotonous ways of teaching styles and adapt according to needs and requirements of students.
