I have gained a better understanding of the english language and feel more confident in my ability to teach it to others. It has made me more aware of the needs of english language learners along with the needs of any student that I may end of teaching in the future.
I have also learned how to structure a lesson and how to plan a lesson from beginning to end for english students. Being able to watch a lesson done well and done poorly was also helpful because it made me more aware of just how much of a difference a teacher can make when presenting the same material.
After the completion of this course it is my hope to find work teaching english overseas. Knowing how to assess the needs of my students and how to create a positive learning environment will definitely make me a better teacher. The template provided for making lesson plans and the different lesson types, ESA, patchwork, etc. will be something that I can see myself using no matter where I end up.
