Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
The equipment and teaching-aid unit was very helpful because it highlighted some of the equipment teachers can use in the classroom such as such overhead projectors, cassette recorders, visual aids, video cameras, whiteboards, DVD/CD players and other equipment. This was a unit I enjoyed reading. When going over this unit, I found it helpful to distinguish between which words or vocabulary you may choose, or not choose to teach a student. By carefully choosing which words are important, and able to be learned, it allows the student to build their own vocabulary without becoming confused. The system of the tenses in the English language is quite complex. The past tense is particularly difficult as there are irregular forms of the verbs that need to be memorised by the students. The teacher should use a variety of exercises to help the students master the usage of the past tenses.
