This unit described the four different forms of the past tense and their usage. Like many grammatical features of English, these conjugations are something I simply take for granted as a native speaker, and this unit was helpful in anticipating questions and problems my students might have with the complexity and numerous exceptions in the conjugation of past tense verbs. I've found these units about grammar have also been helpful in making me aware of my own speech and highlighting things to keep in mind when I talk to students with a lower level of English. It is not just vocabulary that has to be simplified but grammar. Otherwise I might take for granted that my students understand the nuance of distinction between, say, past perfect and past perfect continuous tense in my speech.
