This unit continued on where Unit 4 left off, and discussed the past tense. It touched upon the four different aspects that make up the past tense including past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and the past perfect continuous. It talked about how similar the forms of the past tense are to the present. The unit also gave a small list of the irregular verbs in the past simple form. With each aspect discussed, the correct structure for positive, negative, and question forms were given, as well as the situations in which they are used. The unit also gave common errors that students make with each aspect of the past tense.
