This unit covered the productive skills of speaking and writing. The lesson was important because it highlighted how the productive and receptive skills should be taught differently. Obviously when it comes to speaking or writing in a foreign language, people are going to be hesitant about their abilities. Keeping this in mind the teacher needs to use methods and exercises that will allow the students to share their knowledge in a fun and safe environment. It was interesting to read about the effects of handwriting on a students confidence, especially since I am currently learning to write Kanji.
