This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I enjoyed this unit because I got to see what I could improve from my former lesson plans. For example, it had never occurred to me to write down the room number and number of people in the class incase I could not make it for that particular lesson. Also, I learned to add the \"personal aims\" section so that I can improve my teaching. It is also good to create and keep lesson plans for a reference in class and a record for the future.
It is also paramount to do a self evaluation to make sure the lesson is doing what it is suppose to; also to see what you can improve next time. This lets you reflect on the effectiveness of your engage, study, and activate stages. After the evaluation is completed you can see what your strengths and weaknesses are for next lesson.
When you create a lesson plan, you want to make sure it has flexibility while still having goals. It is also critical that the lesson plan has a variety of activities so the students do not get bored, but it also has to be balanced as to not spend all of the time on the activate stage, for example. Finally, lesson plans need to be continually reviewed to make sure students retain the information.
