This section covered two main topics, conditionals and reported speech, neither of which had been studied by me before. Conditionals were the more straightforward of the two. There are 4 forms, each with different uses and correspondingly different verb tenses. All of them connect two events that have a causal relationship of some kind. The teaching methods presented for covering conditionals relied on this two part structure, having students match or create their own events to complete the conditionals. Reported speech focused on how we change verb tenses to reflect the changes in temporal relation that occur when when report what someone else said at some point in the past.
