This unit taught proper techniques for teaching productive skill. Productive skills in reference to teaching English are writing and speaking. Both are important and come with their own challenges. Considerations of accuracy vs. fluency are also discussed in this unit. I very much liked that games were included in this unit. My first ESL school was run by amateurs that believed games in the classroom were unnecessary, and thus forbidden. Needless to say, the classes became tedious for teachers and students. I have learned that keeping the students' interest is equally as important as the material being taught. Constructive learning games, especially with younger learners, are a great boon to a successful learning environment.
