Unit 19 focused on the teaching of specialty groups such as beginners, adults, young learners, individuals or business English classes. It provided tips and suggestions on how to tailor lessons to suit these various interest groups as young learner beginners can differ greatly from a business English learners. Particular reflection points included, avoiding using a native language if known as it can detract from their motivation to use English. Furthermore, for young learners it is important to maximize positive reinforcement. Finally, teachers need to remember that when teaching business English classes that students are there for a specific need. Therefore, it is important to identify this need through a needs analysis so as to better tailor classes to suit different student groups.
