This unit gave me a clear idea of what works in the classroom and also what not to do. One simple thing that makes a huge difference is your body language, especially smiling. The students feel less intimidated if the teacher looks more inviting and friendly. I also thought that the second video highlighted the importance of getting to know the student's names, it makes the relationship more personable. In addition to body language, using gestures also helps the students understand key concepts. It is important to avoid grammar jargon (modal auxiliary verbs) because this will just confuse the students and take away from your main objective.
