This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 2 covers the eight basic parts of speech: prepositions/conjunctions, pronouns, nouns, gerunds, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and articles. In addition, this unit explains why it is important to know how to classify parts of speech into categories. As a native speaker of English, I have never needed to know how to classify parts of speech, so this unit was particularly difficult for me. However, I know that this will be useful for me going forward because students need to know why something is correct/incorrect, and simply saying \"it sounds better this way\" is often not enough of an explanation. By classifying words, students gain a better idea of what rules accompany various types of words. This technique also empowers them to figure out how to use new words when they come across them outside the classroom.
