This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 talks about the two productive skills which are Speaking and writing. I learnt that in most cases, less attention in given to the writing skills hence students in most cases don't develop their writing skills.
I also learnt that the writing skills require a greater degree of accuracy while the speaking skills require a greater degree of fluency. The unit also elaborates different speaking and writing activities in the classroom, it gives examples of the ESA speaking and writing activities and finally, mentions the importance of games in the classroom. This unit introduces us to the various technologies that are available to us in the classroom. Of course, these technologies are ever evolving and improving, which is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, teachers and students can find new ways to check their abilities, to access authentic materials, and to capture students' attention/interests. On the other hand, the teacher may feel overwhelmed by the technology, and if the teacher isn't properly prepared to use it, an unnecessary chunk of class time can be lost to trying to get the technology to cooperate.
