Conditionals and reported speech are very important to teach since it's used in everyday life conversations but it can be extremally challenging! For some languages, for instance Portuguese, some conditionals used in English simply don't exist in Portuguse in coloquial conversations hence the difficulty for students to grab its concept. The teacher must introduce such topics with conficence and several examples, many exercises and activities and, most importantly, creativity! It can be a very boring and confusing topic if it not handled and presented in a fun and creative way.This is an interesting unit as you can really find out the advantages and disadvantages of using course books with students. It is very important that the teacher does use some creative materials during the lessons as the students may become stale when just working from a book. It is always important for the teacher to check all materials before beginning the class as this may be forgotten and waste valuable time when teaching.
