Unit 7 covered the topic teaching a new language including; vocabulary, grammar and functions. I learned that it is important to select the right vocabulary from different criteria; eg. appropriacy to students and task; how often and for which situation the students need to use the vocabulary and if the students are able to learn the new words. I also gained knowledge about grammatical structures and teaching language functions etc. Among other things in this Unit, the ESA examples will be very helpful with setting up a lesson.Teaching a new language to students can be difficult if the understanding of teaching is not known. Being very similar to types of lessons to teach, knowing how to teach the lesson is important. Figuring out which lessons or activities are important for which segment of class helps the teacher to break down the teaching to the students easier. For example, you could not have a class debate for the beginning of a class as the students are not yet engaged in the activity yet and would not be sure how to proceed without direction.
