This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 3 shows the evolution English teaching has taken. The old fashioned ways of teaching and learning the language are being replaced by far more interactive and motivating methods.
ESA (Engage ? Study ? Activate) is the most suited methodology used to offer great flexibility in a classroom. This teaching method with its various sequences uses different interactive techniques such as games and role-plays applicable to all ages and levels. In addition to the 3 types of lesson sequences, I learnt a lot of different activities a teacher can put into practice in a classroom. The final unit of the course discussed common problems that may arise during a lesson. Important information regarding first lessons was talked about, including activities to use. The issue of different levels was also discussed, along with solutions for how to deal with them. Different techniques for teaching large classes was next, and again the topic of not referring back to a student's native language was touched upon. How to deal with reluctant students, and the encouragement to stick with using listening activities as a teaching method were the final parts of the unit.
