This unit covered the how and what is the appropriate use of course books and various materials to aid teaching. It explained the difference between authentic and unauthentic materials and how they can be useful for different skill development as well as some of their disadvantages. The Unit also went into detail about the use of course books for helping teachers in their lesson. It listed the various advantages and disadvantages. I really liked the fact that the unit highlighted that course books can be a great support for teachers in a classroom but that lessons and activities should not rely on the book. I think that this is a mistake that a lot of teachers make because it is easier and a safe way to ensure that they are following a set syllabus but it makes learning so boring for students. It is so important to encourage teachers to be creative and explore different ways of teaching.
