Unit 2 clearly defines various teaching methods with a more in depth study of Jeremy Harmer’s Engage Study Activate methodology (ESA). The ESA lesson examples with their step by step plans are easily transferable to a child based learning environment and are also very adaptable. For example the “straight Arrow†with an animal focus could be equally effective with a different focus topic and varied activities at each stage creating unlimited possibilities for many exciting fresh lessons. I feel this highly organized yet flexible format will be a very helpful method in lesson planning to me as a new English teacher.
The notes regarding correction were also very helpful as I haven’t done a lot of group teaching in the past and the option of other students/classmates helping with correction is a wonderful option to involve all students and create a supportive learning environment.
