Unit 10 showed a CD/ video lesson of the interaction between student and teacher in a class. In the first video the teaching method was not very effective and so the students did not seen to grasp the information, in this video the teacher lacked the basic knowledge of knowing/ learning his students names and he did not enforce the ESA phase effectively, also he did not ensure that that the students fully understood the information being taught before he enforced the “Activate†phase of the lesson.In this lesson the teacher was very intimidating and unapproachable.
The second video however, was the complete opposite of that of the first video, the teacher carried out the Straight Arrow ESA phase more effectively, the interaction between students and teacher was much better. He made an effort with remembering the names of his students. This unit taught me that it is important to have a plan before class; it will provide structure and keep the class on point.
