In Unit 6 I have learned that the system for past tenses are not very different from the present tense and use the same structure for identifying past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous sentences. The past simple tense can have regular or irregular verbs. An example of an irregular verb sentence might be \"Kelly bought her favorite brand shoes.\" The past continuous expresses an action which began before that time and most likely continued after it. \"Bob was getting older\" is an illustration of a past continuous sentence. Past perfect verbs represent actions that occurred before other actions in the past. \"Leslie was upset because she hadn't realized her dog peed on the couch.\" The past perfect continuous talks about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about. \"Before we went to the fair we had been singing for one straight hour\" is an example of a past perfect continuous sentence.
