Unit 5 covered classroom management. This unit began by explaining how body language can get students involved, build rapport, convey a lesson more clearly, or maintain discipline within a classroom. Students are sensitive to subtle shifts in their teachers movements and attitudes, so it is important to understand how these different gestures can make the teacher look. The unit continued by discussing the different types of groupings and seating arrangements a classroom could be arranged in and the pros and cons of each. Different types of groups or seating arrangements can either improve a class' intimacy or disrupt a teacher's control. The unit continued with a section on teacher talking time. It is important that a teacher give examples of natural, correct English by talking, but they must strike a balance between teaching and allowing students to learn on their own. Unit 5 concluded by discussing problem behavior, including reasons behind problem behavior, how to prevent it, and how to stop it once it has arisen.
