This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The unit explains the difference between the materials available when lesson planning, whether they be authentic or non authentic in nature, and the advantages or disadvantages of both, as well as how to create your own materials. The importance of lesson planning is covered using the ESA methodology, and it was most useful to be given examples of how to form and structure a lesson, as well as being provided with information as to where to obtain resources from published books or internet sites.Unit 13 contained a lot of complex information. In particular, I found the phonetic alphabet challenging to decipher. The intonation and stress articles were more enjoyable and I found the video on actual classroom teaching most helpful. I liked the way the instructor conducted the class from introduction to conclusion of the lesson. His friendly, welcoming manner put the students at ease and the fun activity in the Activate stage generated enthusiasm and participation for the subject matter.
