This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit 2 I have learned that there are many theories on how to teach and how a language is learned. There are many theories as this unit covers, more then I could have imagined. A good teacher to me, should be able to utilize all methods in order to have the student learn the material. Learning about the engage, study, and activate approach I found it to be profound. The breakdown of how this is done was very well explained in how to use this method. Elicitation was also a tactic that I found to be a great asset in teaching. I can recall the times when a new lesson was introduced and this technique was not always used. Correction is something that to me seems very crucial to teaching. It could encourage the the student to keep going if done correctly. If done not properly it could damper or discourage the student from the activity or from even learning the language/material all together. In conclusion, along with E.S.A. method and proper correction these are important to the development of an individual or group learning a language.
