Watching the two demo lessons for this unit reminded me of how important it is to enter the classroom cheerfully and to maintain that positive attitude throughout the lesson. The first lesson was a little difficult to watch because the teacher's attitude seemed cold and disinterested. If I was a student in that class, I would be too intimidated to participate in the lesson. On the other hand, the second lesson was easy and pleasant to watch because the teacher's attitude was bubbly and energetic from the beginning to the end. As a student in this class, I would feel more comfortable to participate because I would know that I would not be reprimanded for an incorrect answer. These videos demonstrate that even a simple smile can have a profound effect in making the atmosphere in the classroom more comfortable and welcoming, which ultimately encourages participation from the students. I find that the tone of voice used in the lesson has a similar effect.
