Conditionals are sentences formed by two clauses (a clause containing if, whether or when and a main clause). The \"if\" clause indicates the condition that must be satisfied before the action or state of the main clause can take place. There are five types: zero, first, second, third and mixed conditionals and they are used to indicate present, past and future possibilities. They can be taught using split sentences, conditional sentence completion, chain conditionals, with role plays and with a what would happen if...? question.
Direct speech is what is being said during an actual conversation and reported or indirect speech is a conversation or sentences that are being reported. It is necessary to remember that when transforming direct into indirect speech many changes need to be made (verb tenses, verb patterns, pronouns, time expressions etc.). Reported speech can be taught thanks to media interviews, conversations among at least three people and a connecting game with various reporting verbs and sentences to be reported.
