Unit 5 was on classroom management. It discussed the importance of vocal tone and volume, as well as gestures. Ensuring that my voice tone and volume are appropriate will help convey my message to my class, and the use of gestures will help keep things interesting, as well as further solidify my meaning.
This unit also discussed grouping, and how grouping the class differently can affect instruction, organization, learning, and student talk time. For example, in pairwork, students may try to use their native language rather than using English; or that some students may be uncomfortable with speaking in front of the entire class, so pairs or small groups are more comfortable and effective.
The ability to maintain consistency with the class is also a feature of this lesson. A teacher can't lose their cool with problematic students, and must maintain consistent discipline. It is also important to be consistent with the instructions that are given to the class, as repetition is an important factor in learning a language.
