When teaching and learning receptive skills, we must understand that they are equally important to one another. The two main types of receptive skills are either for purpose(reading instructions) and/or entertainment(reading a favorite book). On some occasions we can have a mix of the two, such as a travel brochure. When teaching receptive skills it is most important that we understand that not only be able to recognize and understand words, but be able to grasp their overall meaning from pre-existing knowledge. Another key aspect to achieve is being able to develop tasks, and activities that will equally cater to all students interests. There are many skills to be taught, and learned. So a captivating, and encouraging ESA module will be necessary.
