In this chapter, I learnt that the teacher has to create his/own materials to either supplement the course book, or replace sections that are not suitable for the class. For many students, compared to the course book materials created by the teacher are more interesting, more relevant and a welcome change from the course book. There are two type of materials - the Authentic materials such as newspapers, songs, poems, brochures. They are useful as they are real and therefore more interesting and motivating. They can be geared to the interest of a particular group of students. Created materials are designed by the teacher to replace a course book. They can be graded to the level of the students.
