I learned that the two receptive skills are reading and listening and the two productive skills are speaking and writing, and that these four skills are all of equal importance when teaching and learning English. The unit pointed out the difficulty that students may have when practicing listening skill since it is unlike reading and seeing words on a page. Under the \"Language\" category, I learned about two ways of approaching the lessons for listening and how to better prepare to teach the students listening skills through pre-teaching vocab as part of the engage stage and being mindful of the text I select. This was also my first time seeing the terms 'authentic text' and 'non-authentic' text.
