The unit provided a description with examples of what the engage, study, and activate stage may look like when teaching vocabulary and introducing grammar structures. Page 2 was helpful to me as it talked about how we can choose the vocabulary words that will be taught to students. It is good to know that when students are learning new vocab words, the origin of the word is not usually a significant factor of what the student needs to know about a word. I was surprised by this because I thought that learning the origin or the root would be a factor in teaching new vocab, and it is helpful to know that there are six other factors that are more important for students to know about vocabulary items.
